'Into the Wild’ is the story of a brilliant student and ace athlete who leaves behind the nice and neat life that his parents, school and society have chalked out for him to hitchhike to Alaska and live in the wilderness. I recommend this movie to everyone who has felt claustrophobic in the face of expectations or have been bored of the regular life and to those who enjoy a different and thought provoking film. Directed by Sean Penn, this movie is another example of the versatile actor’s brilliance. Catch it on Thursday, July 9th on HBO.Moving from one journey to another, I recommend the well known ‘Life of Pi’ by Yann Martel to the book worms. A novel that is strangely believable despite the ridiculously unbelievable plot, Life of Pi is a first person account of the sole survivor of a ship wreck who travels halfway across the world on a lifeboat with orangutan, a zebra and a tiger! Despite the craziness, the author manages to make a hell of a lot of sense. In fact, he has articulated many life changing theories about human behaviour! Anyone who hasn’t read this book must make a quick trip to the book store/library.
