BB Suggests: The Best of Web TV

Author : Editorial Team | on 13th Nov 2009

Web Television, commonly referred to as Web TV, is an emerging genre of digital entertainment, which is distinctly different from traditional broadcast television. Delivered originally online, web series are short-form in nature (2 to 9 minutes per episode). It is a medium that permits just about anyone and everyone to express themselves and potentially become famous far and wide. Here is a list of the five web series that were most watched in October 2009.

BB SuggestsHappy Tree Friends
Happy Tree Friends, contrary to the impression given by its name, is a graphic and violent show. As their official website states; it is "not recommended for small children". The show is reminiscent of The Itchy and Scratchy Show from The Simpsons, being almost entirely devoid of dialogue. Yet, it tops the charts. It's totally worth a look.

BB SuggestsSmosh is the comedy duo of Anthony Padilla and Ian Hecox, two friends who began making videos in high school. They define the word 'smosh' in the following ways:

a) Proper Noun: Of or pertaining to the activities of Anthony Padilla and/or Ian Hecox.
b) Verb: The act of making, viewing, and/or congregating around content with like-minded individuals.
c) Adjective: Really, really, really good.

We think it's apparent that these guys are a bit outrageous and a bit worth watching.

BB SuggestsFred
These videos are centered on a fictional 6 year old (portrayed by Lucas Cruikshank, a teenager) who has a dysfunctional family and 'anger management issues'. Lucas has set up his own YouTube channel in 2005 when he was just 12 years old and in 2009, his channel the first to hit one million subscribers. The guy is ingenuous and witty... if only he wasn't squeaky.

BB Suggests The Station
In a genius move, some of the most popular YouTubers joined forces to form a Mad TV type comedy sketch show. Even for those who are not big fans of the individual members, their combined chemistry will surely bring a smile to your face. Their individual personalities blend together nicely into a burst of comedic perfection.

BB SuggestsThe Guild
An award-winning online sitcom, The Guild is about the lives of an online guild 'The Knights of Good'. Each webisode is 3-8 minutes long and the show follows the life of Codex, the healer of 'The Knights of Good', who attempts to lead a normal life after one of her guild mates shows up on her doorstep.
