BB Supports: Music Basti |
The power of music is endless. Primarily, it is a form of expression of experiences both happy and sad. Secondly, it forms an integral link been cultures across the globe, between the past and the present and between individuals - amongst each other as well as with the wider world. Music can motivational and can develop the right attitudes.
It is with such an ideology that the Integrated Development Education Association (IDEA) with the support of the YP Foundation and Aman Biradari started the Music Basti program in 2008 with the aim of helping children-at-risk in Delhi who face illiteracy and lack of educational facilities, exposure to crime and sexual abuse, child labour, trafficking etc.
Music Basti works towards encouraging self expression and self confidence amongst children. They hope that the music will form a part of the child's personal identity and that shared performances will harbor in them the spirit of team work, collaboration and participation in action.
Music Basti uses voluntary activism as a means by which community needs are transformed into successful cutting edge activities. The project involves young volunteers focusing on youth development programs and skills orientation, with activities to strengthen the connection between people and their communities. It strives to create partnerships between street children, volunteers, music communities, NGOs, organizations, commercial and educational units to provide greater opportunities for this section of the youth that is generally ignored.
Like any organization working in the social sector, they will be hard-pressed for cash and hands. We at BatchBuzz would like to encourage all of you to think about giving back to the society that has given you so much and to help a noble cause. They have identified a great approach to solving a huge crisis that faces our country. They deserve a pat on their back and all the help they can get.
